How to Choose the Right Bed for Your Bedroom
A practical guide to bed sizes, frame materials and mattress fit, so you pick a bed that suits your room and how you sleep.
Start with your room size, not the bed you like
Measure the bedroom before you shop. Leave at least 600mm of walking space on the sides you use daily, and more if the room doubles as a dressing area. A queen bed feels right in most Dhaka bedrooms; a king bed usually needs a room wider than 3.3 metres so you can still fit an almirah and a dressing table.
Common bed sizes in Bangladesh
- Single (36 x 75 inch): children's rooms and small guest rooms
- Semi-double / queen (60 x 78 inch): the standard choice for one or two adults
- Double (54 x 75 inch): a step down from queen, useful in a tighter room
- King (72 x 78 inch or larger): main bedrooms with space to spare
Frame material
Solid wood frames, like our Bed range, hold up well over years of daily use and can be refinished later. Engineered wood with a veneer costs less and still looks good, but is a little less forgiving of humidity and heavy use. Ask your showroom which finish is used on a specific model before you buy.
Storage beds
If your bedroom is small, a bed with a hydraulic storage box under the mattress replaces the need for a separate chest of drawers. It costs more than a simple bed frame, so weigh it against buying a Chest of Drawer separately.
